Careavan is the leading provider of non-emergency transport in Alabama. We have many years of experience in logistics and healthcare.

We offer individualized care, from bedside to destination. Our compassionate drivers have been trained in CPR and are ready to transport you or your loved one wherever you need to go. We specialize in wheelchair transports, and we have the best alternative to an ambulance transport there is: the broad chair.

We will come inside to help you get outside. If you are in a wheelchair, we’ll push you up the ramp of our state-of-the-art rear loading vans. If you are able to walk with or without the aid of a walker or a cane, we will take it at your pace until you are safely fastened in your seat belt. When we get to the destination, we will take you inside to make sure that you are delivered safely. When you’re finished at your destination, all you’ll need to do is call. We’ll come to pick you up to get you back home safely.

Please call one of our knowledgeable and friendly customer service representatives to get all set up!

Frequently Asked Questions

How much will the transport cost? Will my insurance cover it? Do you accept Medicaid?

We charge a load fee plus mileage. The services levels are ambulatory (patients can walk with or without assistance), wheelchair, & broad chair. The broad chair is the best alternative to stretcher transport that we can offer.

We highly recommend that you contact your insurance representative first to find out if your plan covers transportation. If it does, tell them you’d like to ride with Careavan. If they are contracted with us, they’ll send your trips to us first.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We only accept debit or credit cards over the phone at the time of booking. We do not take cash or checks.

How much notice do you need in order to set up a trip?

We ask for 24-48 hours’ notice, but we know that’s not always possible. We will do our best to work your trip into our schedule.

Who can ride with Careavan?

There are no requirements to book a trip.

How far will Careavan go?

We’ll take you anywhere you need to go. Weddings, funerals, life events, grocery shopping, holidays, medical appointments, dialysis transport… We do it all!

Will the passenger ride with other passengers?

No. We do not coload passengers. You will be the only passenger in the van. A family member and a caretaker are allowed to ride with you at no additional charge.
